April 25: Cookie Sales Success Pool Party for Troop #505! We’ll meet you at the YMCA Dunigan Center from 5-7 PM for the pool party our girls have been looking forward to since the kick-off for cookie sales.  We’ll eat pizza first in the party room and then we’ll swim until 7 PM.  The YMCA requires a minimum parent-child ratio in the pool so “volunteers” are needed, lots of them!  We don’t want to have to draft you, but we will if we have to so please call Dana today to let her know you’re ready to swim with the girls!

May 8: End of year party!

May 9-11: Lincoln Encampment at Lincoln State Park

*Lincoln Bi-Centennial Encampment weekend is May 9-11, 2008. This event for Boy and Girl Scouts celebrates Lincoln’s birthday.  Over 3,000 scouts are expected to camp overnight and even more will participate in daytime activities. We’re not sure yet how our troop will participate, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more about the activities being planned.

May 17: Girl Scout Father-Daughter Dance at Good Shepherd

Each troop/grade has an assignment to make this dance successful.  Our troop is responsible for providing and setting up the decorations for the dance.  It’s a “red carpet” event this year so keep your eyes open for specials on any “formal” or “fancy” décor that would go with this theme.  (ie) Do you know someone who has wedding reception decorations that we can borrow?  Do you have a connection with someone who has prom décor leftover?  Also, we’ll need as many parents as possible to help us get the decorating done on the morning of the dance.  Please let Dana know if she can count on your help.  More details will follow closer to the date.

Notes for parents and scouts

*Remember your uniform sash for troop meetings.  You may leave your pins at home; we know that they fall apart easily.

*Dana and Beth e-mailed an invitation to join our troop’s new Yahoo Group.  If you have not yet signed up, please consider doing so.  This will allow us to share news, photos, and more.

*A word from Kim, our cookie mom: Thank you to all the girls and their parents for making our first year of cookie sales a successful one.  I am so pleased that we reached our troop goal!  Thank you for turning in your orders and money on time.   It really helped to have your support.
