Enrollment Statement
The ministry of Catholic Education at Good Shepherd School is an integral
part of the ministry of Good Shepherd Parish.
Good Shepherd Parish stewardship supports Good Shepherd School providing
Catholic Education for “actively participating families” (parent or parents)
who desire this help to fulfill their responsibility before God to hand on the
Catholic Faith to their children.
An “actively participating family” demonstrates a commitment to their
Catholic Faith and to the life and ministry of this particular Christian
community by praying with the Good Shepherd Parish community at Eucharist each
weekend. In addition an “actively participating family” contributes their
time, their talent, and their proper financial support to the ministry of Good
Shepherd Parish.
Should it become necessary to limit enrollment, children from families
with other children already enrolled would be enrolled first. After that,
children would be enrolled beginning with those whose families have the longest
consistent history of being “actively participating families” of Good
Shepherd Parish.
On occasion Good Shepherd Parish may allow the enrollment of children
from families which are not “actively participating families” of Good
Shepherd Parish. Such families must live by the same spirit as “actively
participating families” of Good Shepherd Parish. These families must
“document” that they have the same commitment to weekly participation in
community prayer (Eucharist in the case of Catholic families). They must
have
the same commitment to Christian stewardship and give generously of their time,
their talent, and their financial resources to church ministry. The families of
such students will provide full tuition.
For exceptional enrollment, the pastor is responsible to the parish for
determining that the desired enrollment is in accord with good church order, and
that the family meets the “actively participating family” requirements. The
Principal is responsible to the parish for making a thorough investigation to
determine that there are no issues which would make the enrollment counter
productive to the ministry of Good Shepherd School.
